The Search for a Third Angel, and Other TV News Halloween Hijinks

By A.J. Katz

As has become the custom over the years, morning news shows celebrated Halloween in their own special ways today.

HLN’s Morning Express with Robin Meade channeled the ’70s and ’80s for Halloween, while NBC’s Today show jumped to the ’90s.

On HLN, Meade and Jennifer Westhoven took on the roles of Charlie’s Angels, and held a tryout to find a third angel to join the team. In addition to serving as judges, Meade and other members of the Morning Express team played characters from classic TV shows auditioning to become the third Angel. CNN’s Wolf Blitzer voiced the role of Charlie.

CNN’s L.A. bureau had some fun this morning as well, with Sara Sidner and Stephanie Elam dressing up as HLN’s Michaela Pereira.

Fox and Friends co-hosts Ainsley Earhardt, Steve Doocy & Brian Kilmeade, as well as Heather Nauert and Janice Dean didn’t exactly dress up in traditional Halloween costumes, instead going for a “united” United States of America look. Kilmeade remarked that the election, “may leave us feeling like a divided country so for our Halloween costume we wanted to come together and show you we are still one United States.”

Good Morning America had some technical difficulties this morning. A member of the program’s Pokemon party, ABC News correspondent Gio Benitez had a rough time getting into his Jigglypuff suit:

NBC’s Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb dressed as two ABC morning news legends: Regis Philbin & Kathie Lee Gifford. Kathie Lee dressed as Regis, of course:

Earlier on Today, for its 22nd Halloween on the Plaza, the team flashed back to the ’90s.
