The Saturday Ticker: Weather, Russert, Tapper

  • Two of the the Weather Channel’s three owners may be looking to sell. Blackstone Group and Bain Capital acquired the company, along with NBCUniversal, in 2008. The deal could see the TV channel and the company’s weather data service sold separately, Bloomberg reports.

  • Luke Russert is joining “Meet the Press.” “Luke has an impressive love for politics and has proven himself on the Capitol Hill beat,” moderator Chuck Todd wrote in a memo to staff. Russert, the son of the late “MTP” moderator Tim Russert, will contribute both on-air and on the “MTP” digital platform.

  • CNN’s Jake Tapper will be honored with the “Tex” McCrary Award for Excellence in Journalism today in Knoxville, Tennessee. Tapper’s award comes for his book, “The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor,” which tells the story of a deadly American battle in Afghanistan.
