The Rosie Non-Deal: The Day After

By Alissa Krinsky

More on the subject of the MSNBC/Rosie O’Donnell non-deal:

• FNC’s Roger Friedman says, “According to sources, Rosie and (MSNBC)…apparently could not reach an agreement on money or the length of a contract, with Rosie remaining steadfast in her desire not to commit to more than one year. And don’t believe that it was because O’Donnell mentioned the negotiations last week in public that MSNBC scotched the deal. In the end, it was about money.”

Jacques Steinberg of the New York Times quotes an unnamed NBC executive who, Steinberg writes, said “a principal hurdle had been the length of a potential contract…Ms. O’Donnell would only commit to a year…But the network wanted a commitment of at least two years, so that it could take better advantage of the higher rates it anticipated charging advertisers on her program.”
