The President Essentially Live Tweeted Fox & Friends This Morning

Washington Post’s Jenna Johnson saw something familiar about Pres. Trump’s tweets this morning. They seemed to echo what he was watching on Fox & Friends.

Between 7:04 am and 8:46 a.m. the president sent 5 tweets from his @realDonaldTrump account, some of which were also sent on @potus. They all seemed to be replies and commentary to what Fox & Friends was discussing, whether it was about Gitmo detainees who’ve been released, the House GOP replacement for Obamacare, or Russia. From Johnson:

“Fox & Friends” seems to be Trump’s new favorite show, and the hosts are well aware of it. This is a place where White House aides can expect space to fully explain themselves without a flurry of follow-up questions and where the president can hear a defense of his policies and statements. In late January, the anchors jokingly told the president to flash the lights in the White House if he was watching and then showed footage of a light turning on and off on the upper floor — although they quickly explained that this was a “video effect” and that the president hadn’t actually responded.

A few weeks ago, Trump made his appreciation for the Fox News morning show clear, tweeting “Fox & Friends is great!” Last week, it was the only network TV show to get an interview with Trump ahead of his address to Congress.
