The Post-Ailes Fox News Continues to Build a Slate of Mentoring, Leadership, Career Advancement Programs for Young Newsers

By A.J. Katz

Under the leadership of Suzanne Scott, the post-Roger Ailes Fox News is continuing to build a slate of mentoring, leadership, and career advancement programs for its entry level and up-and-coming staffers.

Another example of this is the new Fox News Leadership Development Program, which effectively replaces the Ailes Apprentice Program.

FNC hosted a kickoff event yesterday to honor the inaugural FNLDP class where Scott along with vp of diversity Marsheila Hayes introduced the group. At the event, Scott referenced her rise within the network and the importance of development programs, “As you may know, I have worked here at Fox News for more than 23 years.  I started here in an entry level role and have moved up through this company over the years. It is important to me for Fox News to be a place for people to grow and develop their skills and talents.

When Kevin Lord and Marsheila Hayes presented this program to me and our executive leadership team, we were thrilled. I believe it is important to invest in staff and employees at all levels so they can have a long and successful career here like I have had.”

Four individuals are selected as part of the FNLDP for the duration of one year. They receive mentoring from business leaders within the network; Access to nation-wide professional development and networking events with partnering diversity organizations; Skill-building opportunities through meetings, workshops and seminars facilitated by FNC execs and top industry professionals outside of the company; and exposure to multiple areas of the business through rotational work, job shadowing and hands-on training across various roles.

This year’s participants:

  • Tania Joseph- Executive Assistant/Production Assistant
  • Alex Velazquez– Financial Analyst
  • Sabrina Lee– Researcher/Booker
  • Brian Paz- Production Assistant, Media Desk
