The Most Watched Cable News Programs in August Were…

Fox News had the top 13 programs in August in total viewers, and the top 11 programs in the key adults 25-54 demo. “The O’Reilly Factor” was the number one program in cable news in both total and demo viewers, averaging 2.36 million total and 369,000 demo viewers. “The Five” and “Special Report with Bret Baier” rounded out the top three in total viewers, while in the demo “Hannity” was second and “The Five” was third.

“The Rachel Maddow Show” led MSNBC in total viewers, placing 14th overall and averaging 620,000 viewers. The program also led the network in the demo, placing 12th overall and averaging 171,000 viewers.

CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” was the top CNN program in total viewers and the demo, placing 18th in both ratings measurements. The show averaged 514,000 total viewers and 140,000 A25-54 viewers for the month of August.

“Nancy Grace” led HLN in total viewers and the demo, placing 32nd and 25th, respectively. Grace’s program averaged 319,000 total viewers and 108,000 A25-54 viewers for the month.

“Squawk on the Street” led CNBC in total viewers with “American Greed” leading the network  in the demo. “Lou Dobbs Tonight” led FBN in total viewers and “Varney & Company” topped in the demo.
