  • Actor Kal Penn is joining Fusion as a special correspondent for its midterm election coverage. Fusion’s election coverage plans include a nightly primetime program “Midterm Mayhem: The Ultimate Political Smackdown” hosted by Fusion’s Nando Vila.

  • “20/20” and “Dateline” split the wins on Friday night. NBC was the #1 newsmagazine in viewers while “20/20” was #1 in the younger demos. “20/20” was #2 for the night, behind “Shark Tank,” in the A18-49 demo. Both shows were bested in total viewers by CBS’ “Blue Bloods.”

  • CBS’s Scott Pelley talks about his reporter “must haves,” including his 20-year-old shortwave radio that’s been around the world. “Someday when I hit the ‘on’ button, the screen won’t come to life, and it’ll break my heart.”
