The Latest in the Osama/Obama Saga

Sure, it’s happened a few times before…but never right next to the presidential candidate himself.

Yesterday’s Associated Press annual meeting in Washington, D.C. played a frequent role in the afternoon coverage on the cable channels. But as the networks dipped in and out of speeches by Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama and others, none were live for the most talked-about moment.

The Times Online (of London) noted an exchange as Associated Press board chairman Dean Singleton was about to hand over the microphone to Obama.

Singleton ended his introduction with a reference to a certain terrorist by the name of “Obama bin Laden.” As the real Obama took the mic, he played it off well without embarrassing Singleton too badly.
