NBC’s “Today” may have had its 60th anniversary celebration last week, but there is still one more piece of the show’s history worth sharing. NBC posted the first edition of the program on Hulu, and it makes more fascinating TV:

There is a news ticker, remarkably similar to the one found on cable news channels today (one story is on Iran-U.K. relations, The U.K. and U.S. would lead a coup d’état in Iran in 1953). There are newspaper headlines, and an explanation of how the newsroom does its job.

There were also calls from viewers:

“A lady just called us and said, ‘you have an interesting program, but you haven’t mentioned Brooklyn,'” host Dave Garroway said. The program swiftly moved on to a story about the Brooklyn Dodgers.
