The Donald Drove Wednesday Ratings for MSNBC

By A.J. Katz

MSNBC’s night of four candidate events delivered strong numbers on Wednesday night, giving the network a rare prime time win over its cable news rivals in the adults 25-54 demographic.

MSNBC’s Place for Politics special coverage won at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. in both the news demo and total viewers thanks to the controversial Trump town hall hosted by Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow’s long-form interview with Hillary Clinton, respectively.

The evening also included a town hall with John Kasich moderated by Chuck Todd at 7 p.m. and Rachel Maddow’s extended interview with Bernie Sanders at 10 p.m.

This performance comes on the heels of MSNBC’s strong first quarter of 2016.  This quarter was the highest for the network in over three years.
