The CBS Trifecta

By Brian

Following up on Friday’s post about Paul Friedman, Steve Friedman and Rick Kaplan, an observer responds:

“Your emailer misses the point about the trifecta of Kaplan, Friedman and Friedman. It’s not about being number one. It’s about being old white guys — and a specific kind of old white guy — namely, network TV white guys from the BC era — Before Cable.

Sure, Kaplan can claim some cable experience, but he was fired from both jobs, not least for bad ratings. So, your first emailer asks the right question: Why is Sean McManus hiring all the larger-than-life producers of TV news who had all been forced into retirement by their previous employers? Is there no one else to hire?”
