The AM Ticker: Osgood, Dispatches, Couric

By Merrill Knox

  • “CBS Sunday Morning” host Charles Osgood is launching a new publishing venture, Big Top Press. The first project, published in April, is a survival guide called “FOLLOW THAT CAR!: A Cabbie’s Guide to Conquering Fears, Achieving Dreams, and Finding a Public Restroom,” by Jimmy Failla, a former NYC cab driver who is now a stand-up comedian.

  • FBN’s Liz Claman is writing a series of “Dispatches From Davos” for Town & Country this week. “This year’s 2800 [invites] include 200 CEOs, 40 heads of state, 70 billionaires (maybe more if the market is up today), nearly all of us in snow boots,” Claman writes in her first post.

  • Katie Couric produced and narrated a documentary on childhood obesity that is being shown at Sundance Film Festival. “I have covered this story for all my years in television news, and I thought: ‘Why am I still talking about this, 30 years later? The more we talk about it, the worse the problem seems to get,” she tells Politico Playbook.
