Somehow, a famous Beatles album became part of the discussion this afternoon while Jake Tapper and Senator John McCain discussed the exchange of five Taliban prisoners for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.
“Senator, they’re not going to free members who are members of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” Tapper said.
“It’s going to be bad guys that are released in exchange for an American,” he added.
“There is a huge difference Jake,” McCain responded, noting these are the top leaders of the Taliban, and that critics claiming he swapped positions on Bergdahl’s release after the fact are “lying.”
“I obviously would have to know the details,” McCain said, stressing that’s what he stipulated before the swap was made. “The details are unacceptable,” he added.
