Sandy Montag‘s The Montag Group is merging with IF Management, owned by talent agent Steve Herz.
Herz’s IF Management is a boutique agency representing about 150 of the biggest names in TV news and sports at networks including CBS News, CNN, Fox News, and CNBC. The Montag Group’s clients include coaches, athletes and sports broadcasters.
“Steve is the one person in the industry that I would even consider doing this deal with,” said Montag in a statement. “I really feel that our businesses complement each other, as well as our management styles. With many agencies in the space becoming oversized, the industry needs a representation business which has a clear focus on client services.”
“For the past twenty years, IF has chosen quality over quantity and fostered a tight knit company culture with our clients and staff,” said Herz. “In that respect, Sandy and I have always been kindred spirits, making this an easy decision.”
Both companies will retain their names, and the joint business will operate out of New York City and White Plains, NY. The Montag Group also has a consulting business, and a joint partnership with Ari Fleischer Communications, headed by Pres. George W. Bush’s first White House press secretary.
