T.J. Holmes BET Bound?

By Alex Weprin

The Maynard Institute’s Richard Prince reports that CNN anchor T.J. Holmes is heading to BET after he leaves the cable news channel at the end of the year. A source at BET tells TVNewser that they have “had conversations” with Holmes, but could not confirm whether he would be joining the African America-focused channel.

Prince says BET “plans to build a show” around Holmes.

BET has made a conscious effort to add news programming to its lineup over the last few years, especially in light of the election of President Obama. With the 2012 election season just getting underway, the channel may want to establish a news niche, and Holmes may be the anchor to do that for them.

BET announced that it would air a special on Thursday about former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain. Dubbed “The Curious Case of Citizen Cain,” the special would examine his life, his politics and the primary race.
