Synergy! ‘Today’ Co-Anchor Matt Lauer to Guest-Star on USA’s ‘Royal Pains’

By Alex Weprin

NBC “Today” co-anchor Matt Lauer will play himself in an upcoming episode of the USA series “Royal Pains.” USA–like NBC–is owned by NBCUniversal. “Royal Pains” follows a doctor in the Hamptons and his eccentric brother as they save lives and deal with the locals. USA explains the cameo:

In the episode entitled “Ta Da For,” Lauer vacations in the Hamptons–where the show takes place–and Evan Lawson (Paulo Costanzo) schemes to secure a TODAY SHOW profile for his and brother Hank’s (Mark Feuerstein) booming medical concierge business HankMed.

Adding to the authenticity of the cameo is the fact that Lauer and his family own a home in the Hamptons, and are regulars there in the Summer months.
