FTN was the sole Sunday show to deliver gains both in total viewers (+4 percent) and A25-54 (+1 percent) from the comparable Sunday in 2015. It is important to note that the August 28th edition of Face the Nation filed under an amended title. This was the final week FTN filed under an amended title as permitted by Nielsen.
Meet the Press fell 3 percent in total viewers, but grew 21 percent in the news demo from the comparable Sunday last year. An additional 877,000 total viewers and 214,000 from the news demo watched MTP with rebroadcasts on MSNBC.
ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos delivered mediocre ratings this past Sunday relative to the comparable Sunday last year. The episode was down 3 percent in total viewers and down 19 percent in the news demo. That said, This Week defeated Face the Nation in the demo, it is drawing its largest overall audience in 17 years and posting its strongest news demo performance in 7 years.
Fox News Sunday on FOX fell 12 percent in total viewers but gained 2 percent in the news demo compared to the same Sunday in 2015. The original broadcast combined with a trio of cable replays delivered a total of 4.03 total million viewers, 1.02 million of whom were A25-54. Excluding the FOX broadcast, the trio of cable replays delivered a combined 2.74 million total viewers and 616,000 in the demo.
Despite relatively low total viewer numbers, Univision’s Al Punto continues to resonate with millennials. The 8/28 episode defeated This Week, Face the Nation, and Fox News Sunday in the 18-34 demographic.
