Sunday Show Ratings: Sept. 1

By A.J. Katz

Sunday public affairs program ratings were relatively low this past Sunday, something one might expect the day before Labor Day.

NBC’s Meet the Press with Chuck Todd was the No. 1 Sunday show on Sept. 1 in total viewers. Season-to-date, its the most-watched Sunday show across the board.

ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos, which just named a new ep, finished No. 1 in the advertiser-friendly A25-54 demo.

NBC, CBS, and Fox decided to re-title their respective Sunday show broadcasts due to the holiday, and ratings for neither will count towards their overall season averages. ABC, on the other hand, did not choose to re-title and their ratings will indeed count towards its season averages.

In addition to beating both Meet the Press and Face the Nation in the key A25-54 demo, ABC’s This Week beat Face the Nation by +13,000 total viewers. The program also posted its largest audience in over 3 months – since May 12.

Over on CBS, Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan finished in third place in the key categories.

The first-run broadcast Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace delivered 1.28 million total viewers and 390,000 A25-54 demo viewers on Fox. The cable replays delivered a combined 2.57 million total viewers and 455,000 A25-54 viewers across three telecasts. Altogether, that’s 3.84 million total viewers and 845,000 A25-54 viewers across four telecasts on Sept. 1.
