Sunday Show Ratings: October 8

By A.J. Katz

There was another split decision in the Sunday show ratings race. CBS’s Face the Nation with John Dickerson is once again No. 1 in total audience, while NBC’s Meet the Press with Chuck Todd is the most-watched among adults 25-54.

Each of the English language Sunday politics shows were down from the comparable Sunday last year (Oct. 9), which just so happened to be presidential debate day. We have yet to receive the October 8 ratings for Al Punto, but we’ll include those when we do.

Face the Nation has now been the most-watched Sunday politics show for back-to-back weeks, and is presently +6 percent in total viewers this season to-date.

MTP finished No. 1 among adults 25-54 for the 12th consecutive broadcast, and has now won the category for 41 of its past 43 Nielsen-rated broadcasts.

ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos finished third this past week, both in total viewers and in the ad-friendly demo.

The Oct. 8 edition of Fox News Sunday anchored by Chris Wallace delivered a combined 3.84 million total viewers and 1.03 million adults 25-54 on FOX and Fox News. Three of the four FNS telecasts aired on Fox News, and those cable replays combined for 2.54 million total viewers and 569,000 adults 25-54.

Editor’s Note: Face the Nation’s second half-hour was broadcast contiguously across 59.8 percent of the CBS affiliates.
