NBC’s Meet the Press with Chuck Todd finished No. 1 among the Sunday shows this past week.
According to live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen, Meet the Press on NBC averaged 3.06 million total viewers, the Oct. 20 edition of MTP topped ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos by +19% (+479,000) and edged CBS’ Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan by +2% (+55,000) in average total viewers.
MTP was also No.1 among viewers from the key A25-54 demo, beating ABC by +24% (+145,000) and beating CBS by +9% (+63,000) in that age range.
An additional 1.24 million total viewers and 384,000 A25-54 viewers watched MTP through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
CBS’ Face the Nation (1/2-hour edition) averaged 3 million total viewers and 687,000 A25-54 viewers on Nov. 3, second-most among the Sunday public affairs programs, and ahead of This Week in the aforementioned key measurements. Those figures also represent year-over-year growth for the Margaret Brennan-anchored broadcast.
However, ABC’s This Week remains in second place season to-date among A25-54. The Nov. 3 broadcast of This Week averaged 2.58 million total viewers and 605,000 A25-54 viewers. However, it was preempted in America’s largest market due to coverage of the TCS New York City Marathon.
The Nov. 3 edition of Fox News Sunday hosted by Chris Wallace on Fox featured the World Series trophy. In terms of ratings, the first-run telecast delivered 1.29 million total viewers and 352,000 demo viewers. The trio of cable replays delivered 2.05 million total viewers and 278,000 A25-54 viewers. Altogether, that’s roughly 3.33 million total and 630,000 A25-54 viewers on Nov. 3.
Compared with the same Sunday in 2018, NBC was -8% in total viewers, while CBS was +3%, ABC was steady and Fox was -17%. Among adults 25-54, NBC was -12%, CBS was again +3%, ABC was -8% and Fox was -25%.
