Sunday Show Ratings: May 27

By A.J. Katz

Due to the Memorial Day holiday, ABC and NBC decided not to rate their Sunday show broadcasts, and the numbers you’ll see below won’t count towards their season averages. This was also the case in Memorial Day weekend 2017.

NBC’s Meet the Press would have won the week across the board, and it would have won pretty handily. MTP, which only had 84 percent coverage on this same Sunday last year due to NBC Sports live coverage of Formula 1 and the French Open, was +29 percent in total viewers and +42 percent in the key demo from last year.

Due to significant changes in scheduling patterns because of Indy 500, ABC’s This Week was retitled. The program was technically -9 percent in total viewers and -11 percent in the demo from the same Sunday last year, but is still posting its largest lead over CBS in the demo this season in 18 years.

CBS, on the other hand, decided to rate Sunday’s broadcast of Face the Nation. It was -23 percent in total viewers and -28 percent in the demo versus Memorial Day weekend broadcast for last year. That said, the half hour edition of FTN continues to beat ABC in total viewers.

With Bill Hemmer subbing for Chris Wallace, Fox News Sunday on Fox broadcast posted just over 1 million total viewers and 280,000 A25-54 demo viewers on May 27. That’s a double digit decline from what program delivered last year (-27 percent total viewers / -33 percent in the demo). The program’s trio of cable replays combined for 2.29 million total viewers and 394,000 demo viewers. Altogether, 3.34 million viewers and 674,000 demo viewers watched Fox News Sunday on May 27.

Here are the numbers for May 27 2018:

CBS Face the Nation (1/2 hr)  2.351M 419k
