Sunday Show Ratings: May 18 & May Sweeps

“Face the Nation” took home the top spot in both ratings measurements on May 18. The CBS Sunday public affairs program bested ABC’s “This Week” by +130,000 total viewers and +101,000 A25-54 viewers.

Compared to the same week last year, “This Week” is the only show to grow, +6% in total viewers and +3% in the demo. “Face the Nation” (-2% in total viewers / -13% in the demo), “Meet the Press” (-9% / -8%), “Fox News Sunday (-11% / -10%) and Univision’s “Al Punto” (-4%/-19%) were all down.

Cable replays of “Fox News Sunday” averaged a combined 1,747,000 total viewers and 291,000 A25-54 viewers. Rebroadcasts of “Meet the Press” delivered 1,071,000 total viewers and 493,000 A25-54 viewers.

“Face the Nation” is based on the first half-hour only, as the full contiguous hour aired in just 67% of the country.

As for May Sweeps: “Face the Nation” wins in total viewers and ABC’s “This Week” wins in the A25-54 demographic. It was the first sweeps victory in the demo for “This Week” in nearly 21 years (since July 1993). The ABC program was also the only show to grow compared to the year-ago sweeps period, up +15% in total viewers and +20% in the A25-54 demographic. “Meet the Press” was down -11% and -16%, “Face the Nation” was down -5% and -7% and “Fox News Sunday” was down -6% and -16%, respectively.

Sweeps numbers for “Al Punto” are not yet available.
