NBC’s Meet the Press with Chuck Todd was the top Sunday public affairs show of the week, both in total viewers and in the ad-friendly A25-54 demo. In addition to its No. 1 ranking in key categories, MTP posted +32 percent total viewer growth and +34 percent demo growth from the same Sunday in 2016 (June 5). That June 5 edition of MTP aired at 8 a.m. ET / 5 a.m. PT across the country due to the French Open finals, and was not rated.
Not surprisingly, CBS’s Face the Nation hosted by John Dickerson, ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos, and Fox News Sunday hosted by Chris Wallace were all down from the same Sunday last year.
FTN finished No. 2 in total viewers, but was -18 percent year-over-year. The year-over-year drop was even more significant in the demo (-26 percent), where it came in third this Sunday.
This Week finished No. 2 in the demo, posting its strongest demo performance in 10 weeks. The program was -3 percent, both in demo viewers and in total viewers from last year.
Despite being down year-over-year, Fox News Sunday had a landmark performance in the Washington D.C. market. For the first time since February 2016, FNS ranked No. 1 in market among adults 25-54. The program featured interviews with former vice president Al Gore and EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt.
Nationally, Fox News Sunday on FOX delivered nearly 1.5 million total viewers, -9 percent from the same Sunday in 2016, and 422,000 A25-54, which is -4 percent from last year.
The 10 p.m. ET and 2 a.m. replays of the program delivered nearly 1.9 million total viewers. Altogether, FNS delivered 3.3 million total viewers and 828,000 A25-54 on Sunday, June 4.
Al Punto hosted by Jorge Ramos posted year-over-year growth this past week among adults 18-34 (+17 percent), adults 18-49 (+5 percent) and adults 25-54 (+5 percent).
