Sunday Show Ratings: December 29 & Q4 2013

The last Sunday of 2013 brought a win for ABC’s “This Week,” which topped CBS’ “Face the Nation” by +140,000 total viewers and +168,000 A25-54 viewers. For the second week in a row, NBC’s “Meet the Press” slipped to third.

“This Week,” which was in third place the same day last year, was up +5% in total viewers and +9% in the A25-54 demographic. “Fox News Sunday” was also up across the board, +8% in total viewers and +19% in the demo. Univision’s “Al Punto,” “Face the Nation” and “Meet the Press,” which had a big win on the year-ago show due to an interview with President Obama, were down in both ratings measurements.

Cable replays of “Fox News Sunday” averaged a combined 1,598,000 total viewers and 309,000 A25-54 viewers. Rebroadcasts of “Meet the Press” delivered an additional 1,175,000 total viewers and 611,000 A25-54 viewers.

“Face the Nation” is based on the first half-hour only, as the full contiguous hour aired in just 50% of the country.

As for the quarter:

“Face the Nation” holds on to the top spot, with “This Week” narrowly edging “Meet the Press” for second place. It is the first time ABC has beat NBC in 17 years in total viewers and in 20 years in the demo. “This Week” built on its Q3 audience by +15% in both ratings measurements, delivering its most-watched quarter since 2009.

Al Punto’s fourth quarter numbers are not yet available.
