As has become the custom in recent months, NBC’s Meet the Press with Chuck Todd was the No. 1 Sunday show this past Sunday, Aug. 25.
Averaging 2.93 million total viewers, MTP topped both ABC’s This Week and CBS’ Face the Nation by double-digits; beating ABC by +12% and CBS by +17%. This marks the MTP’s 57th straight win over ABC in total viewers.
MTP also won in the advertiser-friendly A25-54 demo, topping rivals ABC and CBS by double-digits percent, +23% more than ABC and +48% more than CBS.
An additional 968,000 total viewers and 205,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos finished No.2 this past week, both among adults 25-54 and total viewers. The ABC public affairs show earned largest total viewers advantage over Face the Nation more than one year (since July 29, 2018) and beat it in the key adult news demo for the 6th consecutive week.
Former GOP Rep. Joe Walsh announced on the ABC Sunday show that he was going to run for president.
Over on CBS, Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan finished in third place in the key categories,
The first-run broadcast Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace delivered 1.12 million total viewers and 360,000 A25-54 demo viewers on Fox; solid numbers for the program. The cable replays delivered a combined 2.03 million total viewers and 335,000 A25-54 viewers across four telecasts. Altogether, that’s 3.22 million total viewers and 695,000 A25-54 viewers across four telecasts.
Compared with the same Sunday in 2018, NBC was -14% in total viewers, ABC was -8%, CBS was -19% and Fox was +7%. In the A25-54 demo, NBC was -16%, ABC was -16%, CBS was -24%, and Fox was +8%.
