Sunday Show Ratings: April 9, 2017

If it’s Sunday, it’s still Meet the Press.

NBC’s Sunday public affairs program moderated by Chuck Todd was the No. 1 Sunday show on April 9, marking its sixth straight week as No. 1 across the board, first time since 2011.

MTP was the sole Sunday show to post growth both in total viewers (+10 percent) and in the key A25-54 demo (+8 percent) versus the comparable Sunday in 2016 (April 10).

The April 9 edition of MTP delivered an additional 1.29 million total viewers and 259,000 demo viewers through rebroadcasts on MSNBC, and won the Washington DC market for the 93rd straight week.

CBS’s Face the Nation with John Dickerson came in second place this past Sunday, both in total viewers and among viewers 25-54. FTN posted -3 percent decline in total viewers, and -9 percent decline in the demo relative to the same Sunday last year. Only the first 30 minutes of Face the Nation are rated.

ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos came in third in both of the aforementioned categories. The program saw -2 percent decline in total viewers and a whopping -11 percent drop in the demo relative to last year. That said, This Week is up +3 percent in total viewers from last season, and is drawing its largest overall audience since the 1998-1999 broadcast season.

Fox News Sunday hosted by Chris Wallace posted a -5 percent decline in total viewers, but +1 percent growth in the news demo relative to April 10, 2016. The trio of cable replays (2 p.m., 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. ET), delivered a combined 3.31 million total viewers and 798,000 demo viewers. Altogether, the April 9 edition of FNS hauled in 4.86 million total viewers with 1.3 million coming from the demo.

Al Punto hosted by Jorge Ramos had another strong ratings week relative to the same Sunday last year, +16 percent in total viewers, +33 percent among millennials, and +24 percent in the key A25-54 demo. The program finished ahead of CBS, ABC and FOX in terms of total viewers from the A18-34 demo.
