Sunday Show Ratings: April 7

The winning streak continues.

Among all Sunday public affairs programming, NBC’s Meet the Press ranked No. 1 across the board on April 7, according to Nielsen research, marking the show’s ninth straight win in total viewers and its record-setting 62nd straight win in the A25-54 key demo.

Hosted by Chuck Todd, MTP posted 3.67 million total viewers, which is +8%  more than CBS’ Face the Nation, and +27% than ABC’s This Week. The NBC broadcast averaged 828,000 A25-54 demo viewers on April 7, +17% more than CBS Face the Nation, and +40% more than ABC.

Compared to last year, the April 8 edition of MTP was +1% in total viewers, and -6% in the demo. An additional 864,000 total viewers, and 178,000 A25-54 viewers watched MTP through reruns on NBC and MSNBC.

CBS’s Face the Nation hosted by Margaret Brennan finished in second place across the board this past week, and its margin with NBC was closer than usual. FTN posted year-over-year total viewer growth. It also stayed flat in A25-54 viewers from last year, which is an impressive feat these days.

This Week with George Stephanopoulos ranked third across the board, and struggled the most relative to last year: -10% in total viewers and  -27% in demo viewers.

Fox News Sunday hosted by Chris Wallace on the Fox network was -6% in total viewers and -17% in A25-54 viewers vs. April 8 2018. Bill Hemmer filled in for Wallace. The cable replays on Fox News delivered a combined 2.41 million total viewers and 430,000 A25-54 viewers. Altogether, that’s 3.62 million total viewers and 751,000 demo viewers on April 7.
