Stranded Blogger Tweets JFK Ordeal

By Chris Ariens

For every abandoned car, stuck train and canceled flight in the wake of the brrrricane of 2010 there is a story. And for just about every story, there is a Tweet, or several dozen, broadcast to anyone who is interested. We’ve been tracking the Tweets of author and blogger Jason Cochran (@bastable) throughout the night. Cochran is one of hundreds of passengers stranded at New York’s JFK airport. He’s been there for last 17 hours — including four hours stuck on the tarmac on a London-bound Virgin Atlantic flight.

His Tweets started around 8pm last night. As the storm was already in full swing, the Virgin Atlantic flight bound for London taxied for takeoff.

Now JFK @VirginAtlantic flight is stranded on tarmac because so much snow has fallen. Mutiny brewing. This shouldn’t have gotten this far.

Cochran and his fellow passengers spent more than four hours on the tarmac. And when the returned to the terminal, the media calls started coming in. Cochran told his story to “Good Morning America,” WNBC and, in the last hour, on CNN where he talked about “hour 17 of my JFK residency.”

For Cochran, it’s a long way from his most recent TV news appearance. Earlier this month, the WalletPop.com blogger was booked on “The Early Show” talking about how to pick the right Christmas tree at the right price.
