Amid criticism from some Republicans over donations to the Clinton Foundation that had not been previously disclosed, ABC News chief anchor George Stephanopoulos said he would not moderate a New Hampshire Republican debate ABC will carry in February.
In an interview with Politico, Stephanopoulos said he was a fair moderator, but would step aside. “I won’t moderate that debate,” Stephanopoulos said. He also clarified the amount of money he’d donated:
Stephanopoulos also said that he has given a total of $75,000 to the Clinton Foundation. That figure represents charitable contributions of $25,000 in 2012, 2013 and 2014, respectively. ABC News initially said that Stephanopoulos had given a total of $50,000 to the foundation.
