Sports Illustrated Writer Runs for FIFA President

By Noah Davis

Grant Wahl is perhaps the best-known soccer writer in America, but he’s aiming higher.

Sports Illustrated‘s senior writer announced his candidacy for the president of FIFA, soccer’s ruling body (in so many languages, too). The current president is Sepp Blatter, but he and the organization are widely – and correctly – seen as corrupt.

Wahl says he’ll serve if elected, although chances of that happening are beyond slim. He has the support of Steve Nash, Chad Ochocinco, Seth Meyers, Peter King, and plenty of others. Crazier things have happened, right?

He’ll certainly get our vote (although we don’t have one).
