Soledad O’Brien Says CNN Docs Becoming ‘Wider and Broader’

By kevin

In our newest episode of Media Beat, CNN’s Soledad O’Brien tells us she travels to New Orleans around 25 times a year. Recently, many of those trips were for production on “New Orleans Rising,” the latest documentary she completed with CNN’s In America unit, which debuts later this week (Aug 21st, 8pmET).

“I think anyone who’s covered that story or even watched that story unfold on television five years ago is so connected to what’s happened to the people of New Orleans and the city itself,” she told us.

She says her unit is now working on six documentaries at a time and, while the first “In America” projects initially focused on race, she thinks “the direction is to go wider and broader.”
