So Much for Retirement. Allen Pizzey Is Back on the Beat

By Chris Ariens

Longtime CBS News correspondent Allen Pizzey announced last November that he’d be retiring. Then last Monday, CBS This Morning paid tribute to the 30-year CBS Newser, saying Pizzey has signed off “for the last time.”

Then, Tuesday morning, bombs went off in Brussels. And Pizzey was quickly back on the air. The Rome-based correspondent has been the lead reporter for CBS This Morning and the CBS Evening News all week from Brussels, including just this morning on CBS This Morning Saturday.

Pizzey has been with CBS since 1980, based in bureaus in Johannesburg (1980-82) and Athens (1982-89) before moving to Rome.
