Sling TV CEO: Millennials Like ESPN, Don’t Like Cable

By Mark Joyella

Sling TV CEO Roger Lynch hopes millennials will like what his new company is offering: a chance to get ESPN, CNN, and other cable channels–without having cable. “We know that millennials, that this is primarily targeted for, love some of the content that’s available on cable and satellite, but they don’t like the model of two-year contracts, credit checks, commitments, installers, wires and all of that,” Lynch told “Bloomberg West.”

It’s the first time a channel like ESPN has been made available without a cable or satellite connection, and yet Lynch says his company is no threat to cable. “It enables them to sell more broadband, which is really their most profitable business.”
