‘Shots Fired. Run!’: NBC’s Lester Holt Caught Up in LAX ‘Active Shooter’ Drama

NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt arrived in Los Angeles just in time to be swept up in a scare over reports of an active shooter at the airport.

“Arriving at LAX off flight when people started pouring out of term 4 onto Tarmac,” Holt said on Twitter. “Security said ‘shots fired. Run!’ Now in vehicle on taxiway.”

Holt said one witness described hearing “pops,” but the NBC anchor witnessed the ensuing panic:

NBC News reports the Los Angeles Police Department evacuated the airport and conducted a search, but found no evidence of any shooting. The incident appears to have been a false alarm:
