Shep Smith is sometimes mentioned as the potential host of a half-hour newscast for the Fox broadcast network.
He had a chance to rehearse on Friday, as his Fox Report was cut short for live coverage of the space shuttle launch. At 7:30pm, as he tossed to Cape Canaveral, he remarked:
“So that’s what it’s like to do a 30 minute newscast?”
Then he paused and looked around the studio as a couple men laughed off-camera.
“Mmmm. That’s cake!” he teased…
