Five or ten years from now, FNC’s Shep Smith hopes South Mississippi still includes the people of South Mississippi. The area, devastated by Hurricane Katrina, “is a people as much as it is a place. And I just hope there’s room for them when it’s all over,” he tells the Sun Herald.
“So it’ll come back. But, I think one thing we ought to keep an eye on is, who’s going to come back with it? There are a lot of people who have invested generations of heart and soul into this beach. And it may just look like a beach to people watching on TV, but it’s more than that to people who’ve grown up here, whose grandparents were here, and lived through Camille. And I think it’s important to try and keep an eye on what’s happening.” More…
