Sequel Planned to Ricky Williams Documentary

Run Ricky Run, Sean Pamphilon’s documentary about former retiree Ricky Williams of the Miami Dolphins, was one of the best in ESPN’s 30-for-3o series. And Pamphilon is reportedly making a follow-up called The Truth Cabin. He told the South Florida Sun Sentinel he has more than 300 hours of Williams footage, dating back to his days at the University of Texas, when he won the Heisman Trophy in 1998. The piece will follow Williams’ abrupt retirement in 2004, his marijuana use and his spiritual sojourns.

In the same way that “Run Ricky Run” went far deeper than Williams’ life as an athlete – he alleged in the film that his father had sexually abused him as a child – Pamphilon makes “The Truth Cabin” sound even less about sports.

“There’s more of Ricky, the element of Ricky and I together and how that impacted me, and the external forces of what brought us together,” Pamphilon said.
