Senators Call For New Body Armor Testing In Wake Of NBC Investigation

Last week’s NBC News Investigative Unit report about Army body armor has led the Senate Armed Services Committee to effectively order the Secretary of Defense to conduct a brand new, independent analysis of protective options.

The Nightly News segment and Dateline piece by Lisa Myers and producer Adam Ciralsky called into question the Army’s insistence that Interceptor armor is the “very best in the world.” A limited test “at a renowned ballistics lab in Germany” showed that Dragon Skin is more effective.

The Pentagon stood by its testing at a briefing on Monday. Several U.S. Senators started calling for new independent tests.
