Senate Committee Questions CBS’ Priorities in Enviro Reporting

By SteveK

The blog of the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works posted a story regarding a job opening at CBS. The Inhofe EPW Press Blog (named after committee’s ranking Republican member Sen. James Inhofe) found a posting on JournalismJobs.com for a new “Vibrant Reporter/Host for Eco Beat.”

The blog takes exception with the wording of the job post. CBS is looking for someone who is “wicked smart, funny, irreverent and hip, oozing enthusiasm and creative energy.” But when it comes to an environmental background, it is “a big plus, but not a requirement.”

The EPW blog headline claims that the ad says, “No ‘Knowledge of Enviro Beat’ Necessary,” which is a bit of an overstatement. Still, the blog says, “CBS News has once again exposed the reason why the establishment media continues to lose audience and influence to the New Media which includes the Internet, Talk Radio, and cable news.”
