Scott Pelley and Major Garrett in Final Preps for Tonight’s GOP Debate; The Candidates Too

The first broadcast network TV primary debate of the 2012 election cycle will be held tonight in South Carolina. The debate on CBS will be moderated by “Evening News” anchor Scott Pelley and former Fox News White House correspondent Major Garrett, now congressional correspondent for National Journal. CBS News and National Journal are sponsoring the debate at Wofford College in Spartanburg in conjunction with the South Carolina State Republican Party. The 90-minute debate — the first 60 minutes on TV and the last half hour on CBSNews.com — will focus on national security and foreign policy. Pelley, above, anchored the Evening News from the Wofford campus last night.

ABC News hosts its first debate on the second Saturday in December. Diane Sawyer and George Stephanopoulos moderate
