Schiavo: Contrast Between The Cablers

There’s a noticeable contrast on the air early this morning: CNN and MSNBC have trotted out their lead political talent, while FNC is relying on a “weekend/overnight anchor” (Carol Iovanna) to handle the vote coverage. All three cable nets were watching the same numbers, but CNN was the first to say the magic words: “House approves Schiavo bill.” MSNBC followed closely behind, while FNC was very slow to interpret the vote. “I don’t have the numbers in front of me, they’re still waiting for everybody to come into the chamber there,” Julie Kirtz said — as time ran out and the vote ended.
