Scarborough: Trump’s Rise a ‘Humiliating Defeat’ for Media, Political Elites

By Mark Joyella

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough says Tuesday night’s sweeping victories for Donald Trump prove the first-time candidate’s rise has been a “humiliating defeat” for the media, which “underestimated (him) so badly at every turn.”

Writing in The Washington Post, Scarborough says “Trump’s story is about more than a first-time candidate’s stunning rise. It is also about the humiliating defeat suffered by an increasingly isolated political and media class…Time and again…Washington insiders and media moguls misread the mood of working class voters and their attraction to the populist message championed by Trump.”

Scarborough asked Trump about that Wednesday morning on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, noting that Trump had even complimented the media during his victory speech Tuesday night. “I’m an outsider. I don’t play by the traditional rules. I’m self-funding my campaign…I think the media’s under pressure. I think they look very bad.”
