ABC’s Diane Sawyer has been awarded the 2008 Casey Medal from the Journalism Center on Children & Families for her reporting on poverty in America. Sawyer and producers Claire Weinraub, Anna Sims-Phillips, Caroline Borge, Joseph Diaz and Robert Lange received the award for their report, “Waiting on the World to Change,” which aired on 20/20 in January 2007. For a year and a half, Sawyer and producers followed the lives of children from Camden, New Jersey to report on the hardships children face living in one of the poorest cities in America.

Also announced today, CBS’s Kimberly Dozier was honored with a 2008 Women of Distinction Award at this year’s National Conference for College Women Student Leaders. The award pays tribute to women leaders who have made extraordinary contributions in their professions or their communities.
