Savannah Guthrie Gets Pre-Super Bowl Obama Interview

By Chris Ariens

The last two times NBC aired the Super Bowl — 2009 and 2012 — Matt Lauer conducted what’s become the annual pre-Super Bowl interview with Pres. Obama. This year, his “Today” colleague Savannah Guthrie does the honors. The interview usually runs 10-12 minutes airing around 5:30pmET on Super Bowl Sunday.

Guthrie along with Al Roker will anchor the “Today” show from Phoenix Friday and Saturday, before Guthrie heads to Washington for Sunday’s sit-down with the president at the White House. But Roker will no doubt be keeping an eye on the weather for her. When Katie Couric conducted the pre-Super Bowl interview in 2010 for CBS, she arrived just before that year’s snowpocalypse.
