Sarah Palin has canceled an interview with Matt Lauer “as a protest against NBC for not taking action against [Martin] Bashir,” Fox News’ Howard Kurtz reports.

Bashir called Palin a “dunce” and suggested she was a candidate for being urinated and defecated on. He apologized earlier this week, saying his remarks were “wholly unacceptable … neither accurate, nor fair.” Bashir continues to host his show today.

Palin, a Fox News contributor, was most recently on “Today” for an in-studio interview on November 11. For the upcoming Christmas-season interview, Lauer was slated to travel to Wasilla to speak with the former Alaska governor, Kurtz reports.
