Former NBC News correspondent Sara James was back on the network last week reporting from Sydney, Australia on the case involving 18-year-old Madeleine Pulver, who was home alone Wednesday when someone broke in and placed what was thought to be a bomb around her neck. Police believe it was an extortion plot.
James joined NBC in 1992, and spent most of time at NBC News reporting for Dateline. James, her husband PR executive Andrew Butcher and their two daughters now live in Australia. Earlier in his career, Butcher, Australian by birth, was a journalist for several News Corp. newspapers and later was the company’s SVP of Corporate Affairs and Communications.
James now works for NBC News on a freelance basis. Her story from Thursday’s “Today” show, after the jump.
