Sam Champion Reports for CBS This Morning

By Chris Ariens

Not long after Sam Champion left Good Morning America for the Weather Channel, he turned up on GMA rival NBC’s Today show. It was corporate crossover, as NBCU has an ownership stake in the Weather Channel.

But this morning, Champion turned up on CBS This Morning, reporting twice from Seaside Heights, N.J., as a storm churns up the Atlantic, coupled with the uncertainty of Hurricane Joaquin’s path.

Other CBS News shows have been tapping Weather Channel talent recently, but this is the first time the former network morning show mainstay has appeared on CBS This Morning.

Champion joined the Weather Channel in late 2013 to host his own morning show. The network canceled Champion’s AMHQ earlier this month, along with its other morning show, Wake Up with Al, hosted by NBC’s Al Roker.
