Former Good Morning America weathercaster Sam Champion is returning to ABC for a few months, starting next weekend.
As Ginger Zee is about to go on maternity leave, Rob Marciano will move to Monday-Friday while Champion does weekend weather duty.
Champion spent 25 years at ABC, including seven at GMA, before leaving for The Weather Channel in 2013. He left Weather Channel three years later after hosting first a morning show and later a prime time show.

GMA tapped Champion the last time Zee went on maternity leave two years ago this month. More recently, he reported on the 2017 hurricane season for NBC News and MSNBC.
