Robin Roberts Returns to ‘GMA’ February 20

“Good Morning America” co-anchor Robin Roberts will return to the show Wednesday, February 20, five months to the day after she received a bone marrow transplant. Over the past few weeks, Roberts returned to the Times Square studios for a few dry runs. And last week she traveled to the Gulf Coast for GMA’s Super Bowl coverage.

Roberts was given the all-clear by her doctor for a full return to the show. Last April she was diagnosed with MDS which required a bone marrow transplant. Her donor was her sister WWL anchor Sally Ann Roberts.

“I’m excited to re-join my wonderful GMA family,” Roberts writes. “I’m also looking forward to thanking YOU… for your many prayers and well wishes. Your compassion has been an enormous source of comfort to me and my family.”

Roberts’ return comes during February sweeps and just four days before ABC’s annual telecast of the Oscars — its biggest ratings draw of the year. Last year, Roberts hosted ABC’s red carpet special. No word yet if doctors have given the go-ahead for her to host this year.
