Rob Stafford Returns to His TV News Roots

By Alissa Krinsky

“When Rob Stafford was downsized out of his job last year as a Chicago-based correspondent for NBC’s Dateline,” writes Robert Feder of the Chicago Sun-Times, “he hoped he wouldn’t have to leave the market. Luckily for him, he didn’t.” Stafford is a new weekend co-anchor and reporter at NBC-owned WMAQ-TV in the Windy City.

“I wanted this job and asked for it,” Stafford tells Feder. It’s a return to local television for Stafford, who reported for Chicago’s WBBM-TV prior to joining NBC News. Earlier in his career, Stafford worked at WFTV-TV in Orlando, WFRV-TV in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and KBJR-TV in Duluth, Minnesota.
